Gamma Camera Thyroid Scan
Your doctor has referred you for a thyroid scan. You will be positioned next to a special detector called a gamma camera. The camera does not produce any radiation. It will be placed close to the part of your body being imaged.

Patient Preparation
Stop all thyroid medications. Your physician will advise you.

Procedure
You will lie on a table and pictures will be taken at various angles around your neck using a special camera called a gamma camera. This will take 30-45 minutes.
