Renal Function (physiology)
  • determine relative renal function in patients with assymetric renal disease
  • evaluate the vascular supply to the kidneys in patients with renal trauma, dissecting aneurysm and other disorders
  • determine renal morphology and function in patients patients with allergy to xray contrast media

  • Ureteropelvic or ureterovesical obstruction
  • Post-surgical evaluation of a previously obstructed system
  • Distention of pelvicalyceal system as a etiology of back pain

Captopril Renal (renovascular hypertension)
  • abrupt or severe hypertension
  • hypertension resistant to medical therapy in a compliant patient
  • abdominal or flank bruits
  • unexplained azotemia in an elderly hypertensive patient
  • worsening renal function during therapy with ACE inhibitors
  • grade 3 or 4 hypertensive retinopathy
  • occlusive disease in other vascular beds
  • onset of hypertension in under age 30 or over age 55

  • acute pyelonephritis
  • renal scarring
  • relative functioning renal mass
  • solitary or ectopic renal tissue
  • horseshoe or pseudohorseshoe kidneys
  • allergy to iodinated contrast agents
